A
Beautiful Home Dedicated To Life |
| |
A sprawling English Tudor/Gothic
building on the shores of Lake Erie
is the serene setting of St. Columban’s on the Lake
Retirement Home.
The home’s design and spacious grounds create a pleasant
homelike
atmosphere while providing support services for senior adults.
St. Columban’s is located on 50 spacious acres overlooking
the Lake
Erie shore. Rolling landscaped lawns, a variety of gardens,
wooded
areas, walking paths, benches and a gazebo offer a park-like
setting
for residents’ enjoyment.

The home was originally built
by the
Columban Fathers in the 1920’s as a seminary
for young men preparing for the priesthood.
In 1970, the building was acquired by the
Columban Sisters and remodeled as a home
for our elderly residents. Much of the beautiful
woodwork, windows and other unique features
of the building were retained.
The home’s 50 private rooms (including
one- and two-bed suites) are fully carpeted and
furnished, although residents may bring their
own furnishings, if they choose. The parlor is
a beautiful room originally designed to house
artifacts brought from China by the Columban
fathers. Its décor includes an ornate ceiling
and China-blue floor tiles, a fireplace and a
baby grand piano. Other features include an
all-weather solarium, beautifully appointed
dining room, gift shop and on-site chapel.
