The Missionary Sisters
of St. Columban is a religious
congregation of women dedicated to lives of prayer and
service among the elderly, the poor and those who have
not yet received the Gospel message.
Founded in Ireland in 1924, the Sisters began their
ministry in the United States on Christmas Eve 1930
when
they arrived in Silver Creek, New York. In 1970, they
founded St.Columban’s on the Lake Retirement Home
in
Silver Creek, where they have served scores of elderly
residents and their families, members of the retired
clergy,
and the surrounding communities.
Today, the Sisters continue their work among the poor,
the sick and the aged, both at home and within the lives
and cultures of other peoples in their missions in Chile,
China/Hong Kong, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Korea,
Myanmar (Burma), England, Ireland, Scotland and the
United States. Wherever their mission takes them, the
Columban Sisters continue to create new and vibrant
ways
of bringing the Gospel to others. For more information
